Job description

The Assistant Manager provides Leadership and Influence, which inspires excellence in store operations and contributes to a healthy and positive work environment. The ASM functions as support to the General Manager, both operationally and culturally. Operational tasks of the ASM include, but are not limited to, on-shift leadership and problem-solving, product ordering, inventory, and preventative maintenance. Further, the ASM is a champion of Heine Brothers Core Values and Fundamentals, leading by example in both customer and employee interactions. Heine Brothers Assistant Managers are characterized by their drive to see their store’s success, and by their commitment to fostering a great place to work for all of its employees. This is a min 30 hour a week position with required Saturday/Sunday Availability.

As an ASM, you are the boots-on-the-ground leader, setting the tone for every shift. At any moment—especially during the wildest rush—you should be the most hospitable, level-headed, and solutions-oriented person in the room.

What ASMs Do Best:

✅Conduct full inventory counts each period to ensure accuracy and cost control.

✅Be the Ultimate Communicator: The best ASMs are engaged, proactive, and vocal—they celebrate wins, provide real-time coaching, and foster an environment of teamwork and hospitality.

✅Commit to the Role: ASMs are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, during peak hours (including weekends), ensuring strong leadership presence and consistency on the floor.
