UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Systems Manager for a hybrid role with alternating days in NYC. NY. Candidates with an active LinkedIn profile preferred. The right candidate will come with at least 20-years of infrastructure management experience to oversee mainframe systems operations, performance, and strategic planning within large-scale enterprise environments. Skilled in managing mission-critical infrastructure, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring 24/7 availability of mainframe systems. Experienced in z/OS administration, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and vendor relationship management. Proven track record in implementing technology upgrades, aligning infrastructure with business goals, and mentoring technical teams to deliver reliable and efficient mainframe solutions.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of four (4) years of full-time experience in datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering.
20+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure management within large-scale enterprise environments.
Strong leadership experience overseeing technical teams managing mission-critical mainframe or enterprise infrastructure systems.
Hands-on expertise with IBM Mainframe z/OS systems, subsystems, and internals, or equivalent experience managing AIX, Linux, or Unix environments with enterprise storage systems.
In-depth knowledge of mainframe architecture, control structures, performance tuning, and disaster recovery (DR) planning.
Experience in task assignment, team goal-setting, performance management, and project oversight for hardware/software upgrades.
Strong background in z/OS administration, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and system availability management.
Proven ability to coordinate cross-departmental technical initiatives, manage vendor relationships, and lead strategic technology implementations.
Demonstrated experience evaluating, planning, and integrating emerging technologies aligned with organizational goals.
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with proficiency in preparing technical documentation and procedural materials.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver projects on schedule while mentoring technical staff and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt quickly to changing business needs.

SCOPE OF SERVICES
The Mainframe Systems Manager will oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and performance of enterprise-level mainframe systems. Responsibilities include managing the Mainframe Systems team, ensuring compliance with technical policies, coordinating disaster recovery procedures, and monitoring system performance and capacity. The Manager will lead projects related to hardware and software upgrades, oversee vendor relationships, and maintain documentation for all mainframe processes. The role also involves fiscal planning, including cost forecasting for hardware and software lifecycles, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction through technology consolidation and innovation.
