What is a manager account manager?

Manager Account Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing a team of account managers and ensuring that client relationships are maintained and developed effectively. They act as a bridge between their team and upper management, providing guidance, setting goals, and monitoring performance. In addition to managing the team, they may handle key client accounts themselves, resolve escalated issues, and develop strategies to improve client satisfaction and business growth. Their role typically requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

How does a manager account manager typically balance client relationship management with overseeing a team of account managers?

A Manager Account Manager is responsible for maintaining key client relationships while also leading and supporting a team of account managers. This involves regularly meeting with clients to understand their needs and ensuring high-quality service, as well as coaching team members, monitoring their performance, and assisting with complex issues. Balancing these responsibilities requires strong organizational skills and the ability to delegate tasks effectively. Most Manager Account Managers spend part of their week in team meetings, one-on-ones, and client calls, ensuring both client satisfaction and team development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an account manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Account Manager, you need strong relationship-building skills, sales acumen, and a background in business or marketing, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with CRM software (such as Salesforce), sales analytics tools, and project management systems is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused mindset are soft skills that set top performers apart. These competencies are vital for maintaining client satisfaction, driving revenue growth, and ensuring lasting business partnerships.

How much does a manager account manager get paid?

The average salary for an account manager varies depending on experience, industry, and location, but typically ranges from $50,000 to $80,000 annually. Manager account managers with additional responsibilities or in high-demand sectors can earn higher salaries, often exceeding $100,000 with bonuses and commissions included.

What type of manager account manager makes the most money?

Senior or enterprise account managers typically earn the highest salaries due to their experience, larger client portfolios, and strategic responsibilities. They often have advanced skills in sales, negotiation, and customer relationship management, and may receive performance-based bonuses or commissions that significantly increase their earnings.

  • Own the full customer journey for new accounts, from first conversation through onboarding and into long-term success
  • Lead onboarding for the accounts you close, ensuring customers are fully set up, trained, and confident using the platform
  • Build trusted relationships with owners and operators, understanding their goals and helping them use iClassPro to achieve them

  • Act as the voice of the customer internally by sharing feedback, trends, and ideas for improvement

What You Bring

  • Experience in youth activity industry strongly preferred
  • Experience in sales, account management, customer success, and/or onboarding in a SaaS or service-based environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a genuine interest in helping customers succeed
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of organization, follow-through, and ownership over your work
  • Comfort managing multiple accounts and priorities at once
  • A consultative mindset. You focus on solving problems, not just closing deals
  • A team-first attitude and willingness to jump in and help where needed

  • Highly competitive compensation package
  • Fun company events that connect our team.
  • Career growth opportunities in a thriving, purpose-driven company.

Who are we?

At iClassPro, we’re more than just a software company — we’re on a mission to help gym, swim, dance, and cheer businesses spend less time managing and more time doing what they love: coaching, teaching, and building strong communities.

Our class management platform powers thousands of youth activity centers worldwide, helping them run more efficiently, grow their revenue, and achieve long-term success. We’re proud to have earned a spot on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies for three years running: 2023, 2024, and 2025!
