Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Networking is the foundation that enables customers to run mission-critical workloads at global cloud scale.
We're rearchitecting OCI's physical network control and management systems from the ground up to support the next generation of networking services. This is a unique opportunity to influence the architecture of one of the world's largest cloud networking platforms. We're looking for experienced leaders with proven record of building and operating large-scale distributed systems, deep understanding of distributed orchestration services, and a passion for growing high-performant teams to join our leadership team.
Our team develops the core infrastructure that powers OCI Networking's control plane, solving complex challenges in managing network configuration at cloud scale. You'll collaborate across OCI Networking and Infrastructure teams to shape the future of OCI Networking.
Responsibilities
As a Director of Software Engineering, you will lead teams that design, develop, deploy, and operate highly available, large-scale distributed services for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Networking. You will apply your engineering leadership experience and knowledge of software architecture to deliver critical infrastructure that powers OCI Networking's control and management systems.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop software engineering teams through engineering managers and technical leads.
  • Drive execution of technical and organizational priorities, ensuring delivery of reliable, scalable, and operable services.
  • Partner with teams across OCI Networking to design and deliver large-scale cloud infrastructure.
  • Establish strong engineering practices and operational excellence for production distributed systems.
  • Deliver complex projects on time with high quality while effectively managing dependencies, risks, and priorities.
  • Develop engineering leaders and create an environment that supports technical excellence, collaboration, and growth.

Basic Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience leading engineering teams building and operating highly available, production-grade distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience managing engineering managers and/or senior technical leaders.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and software architecture.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals and configuration management is highly desirable.
  • Experience with modern software development and deployment practices, including CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and large-scale deployment workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex engineering initiatives and collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $169,800 to $355,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
