Senior IT Engineer (Networking, Cloud & Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid | East TN, Middle TN, North GA, or North AL
Travel: Up to 25%

Our client is seeking a Senior IT Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting a diverse client base throughout the Southeast. This role is ideal for a technical professional who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, working directly with clients, and serving as a trusted advisor on networking, cloud, security, and modern workplace technologies.

This position combines hands-on engineering, project delivery, technical consulting, and high-level client interaction. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting a technical issue, designing an infrastructure solution, and presenting recommendations to executive stakeholders.

What You''ll Do
  • Design, implement, and support complex client environments
  • Lead network, infrastructure, cloud, and security projects
  • Serve as a senior technical escalation resource for engineering and support teams
  • Design and maintain secure network solutions including LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, firewalls, VPNs, switching, routing, and wireless environments
  • Plan and execute infrastructure migrations and modernization initiatives
  • Support Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, virtualization platforms, and Windows Server environments
  • Conduct infrastructure assessments, audits, and performance reviews
  • Partner with clients to identify optimization and improvement opportunities
  • Support Account Executives during technical discovery, solution design, and pre-sales conversations
  • Present technical recommendations to business leaders and executive stakeholders
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems, or networking roles
  • Strong networking experience in enterprise environments
  • Experience designing and supporting routing, switching, firewall, and wireless solutions
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, BGP, OSPF, and related networking technologies
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and/or AWS
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and virtualization platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Experience
  • Cisco, Fortinet, Check Point, or Juniper networking technologies
  • MSP, consulting, VAR, or professional services experience
  • Microsoft cloud and endpoint management technologies
  • Pre-sales engineering or client consulting experience
