Description
SUMMARY: Incumbents provides supervisory oversight for Information Technology staff and responsible for assisting in the overall direction and administration of all network activities, communications, software acquisitions, and any other information systems services to be provided by the city.
Examples of Duties
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:The list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all the duties and responsibilities performed.
    • Supervises technical personnel responsible for carrying out application support, operations and scheduling, and hardware and software maintenance activities
    • Installs, configures, administrates and maintains the Virtual Server and Desktop Environment
    • Installs, configures, maintains and monitors the backup, data replication, and disaster recovery environment
    • Determines requirements, plans and implements hardware and software upgrades
    • Administrates and supports email system
    • Assists in the preparation of long and short range plans for department's resources and personnel
    • Works with system technicians in analysis of computer problems and solutions
    • Develops specifications and reviews proposals for network, computer, and communications hardware, software, and services
    • Assists with the development and maintenance of viable contingency plans for city-wide network and communications systems
    • Implements network security and administration of the city's WAN/LAN
    • Develops, implements, maintains, or adheres to quality standards and practices relating to technology
    • Meets with user departments, vendors, and consulting firm personnel to discuss plans, issues, administration, and operations.
    • Exercises tact and diplomacy
    • Assists in the approval and endorsement of service requests presented to the department
    • Monitors trends and technology changes
    • Prepares reports as requested
    • Performs other duties as assigned
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:Exercises supervision of personnel in related area of responsibility.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, or Computer Science and 3-5 years directly related experience including experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of virtual infrastructure; telecommunications, networks, IP addressing, and VoIP; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
CERTIFICATION/ LICENSURE:
Must have at time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Ohio driver license.
