Job Description:

Savannah Technical College is seeking part-time instructors to teach courses in Welding.

Responsibilities

  • Daily teaching duties include class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management.

  • Evaluating students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.

  • Maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate.

  • Preparing and maintaining required documentation and administrative reports.

  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and laboratory areas.

  • Assisting with student recruitment and retention efforts.

  • Working diligently to maximize student placements in Welding or related field.

  • Other duties as assigned by Department Head or Program Dean.

  • Flexible work schedule hours to include day/evening classes. Must be able to work evening hours.

  • Must be able to work at multiple Savannah Technical College campus locations, to include those in Savannah/Chatham, Liberty and Effingham Counties.

Education and Occupational Experiences

  • Diploma in Welding from an accredited community college or technical school preferred.

  • Must have three (3) years of welding work experience within the past seven (7) years.

  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills along with computer skills.

  • Current American Welding Society Certification strongly preferred.

  • Teaching experience at a postsecondary institution is strongly desired.

  • Underwater welding experience/certification preferred.

Physical Demands

Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) - four (4) continuous hours at a time.The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 50LBS. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment.

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
