Job description


Freedom Behavioral is dedicated to providing high-quality care to adult male patients with psychiatric needs in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Our facility is committed to compliance with regulatory standards, including those established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and we are actively seeking a Director of Nursing to oversee all aspects of psychiatric nursing services.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversight of Psychiatric Nursing Services: The Director of Nursing will supervise registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and mental health workers to provide nursing care necessary under each patient’s active treatment program.
  • Nursing Care Management: Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized psychiatric nursing care plans, including medication teaching and management of the therapeutic milieu.
  • Supervision and Staff Development: Provide leadership and training for all nursing and mental health staff, ensuring they meet the ongoing training requirements of the facility. This includes orientation programs for new employees and ongoing continuing education programs for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and mental health workers.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring that all psychiatric nursing services meet standards for care and documentation.
  • Leadership and Consultation: Provide leadership and guidance to the psychiatric nursing team, acting as a resource for administrative, nursing, and direct care staff.



Education:

Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with MSN oversight. Masters Prepared strongly preferred.

License:

Current RN License in good standing with the State of Louisiana



Skills:

Strong leadership skills, clinical expertise in psychiatric nursing, and a deep understanding of regulatory compliance related to psychiatric nursing services.
