Job description

Summary:

The Make Ready Technician demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the Mission of Green Country Habitat for Humanity and in the people and neighborhoods it serves with a genuine interest in, and ability to relate to, a highly diverse environment, clientele, and constituencies. The Make Ready Technician will be able to communicate this to donors, vendors, construction professionals and staff.

This is a hands-on position that provides on-site coordination for major tasks being conducted during a construction day. The Make Ready Technician shall be responsible for quality control, and job site safety.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Training: The Make Ready Technician must exercise patience and respect for trades and staff at all times. The Make Ready Technician must be able to answer specific questions about the tasks at hand, as well as general questions about house construction.
  • As a Make Ready Technician your primary responsibility is to ensure that all new homes interior and exterior touchups are completed.
  • This position performs general warranty repairs and assists in the overall maintenance of homes.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of materials such as appliances at job sites.
  • Tools: The Make Ready Technician must ensure that necessary tools are on the site for specific tasks.
  • The Make Ready Technician must monitor observation of safety rules.
  • Correct any safety issues; complete and submit Incident Report for any injuries that occur.
  • Personal health issues: The Make Ready Technician must establish and maintain a proper work pace, watch for signs of heat-related issues, encourage adequate water intake, etc.
  • Ensuring quality construction: The Make Ready Technician should perform tasks that require a high level of skill. This position requires skill in small drywall repair, paint and trim touchup, installation of appliances, mailboxes and any other items standard in new home and remodel construction.
  • Anticipates problems and takes responsibility for solving them on the work site to ensure schedules and work plans are met.
  • Communicates weekly expectations and challenges to Superintendents and Supervisor.
  • Inspects the work of subcontractors to ensure construction conforms to the requirements set forth by the Construction Superintendent and the quality needed to create repeat business.
  • Communicates and works closely with the Construction Superintendent and successfully collaborates with others to achieve the organization?s goals.
  • Responsible for jobsite compliance with all federally mandated policies and laws regarding equal employment opportunity and compliance with nondiscriminatory laws and regulations.
  • Assists other Construction Superintendents as directed.
  • Adheres to construction departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining Habitat?s mission: In the performance of his or her duties, support the mission and vision of Habitat.
