Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Class B license with P and S endorsement, issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles at the time of appointment.
  • Have a clean driving and criminal history.
  • Be able to pass a physical and drug screen.
  • Be required to pass a physical performance test.

Typical Work Activities
Include, but are not limited to:

  • Checking the operating condition of the bus before starting on a trip and after.
  • Reporting any mechanical defects to the immediate supervisor.
  • Instructing or informing students about safety practices when entering and leaving the bus.
  • Maintaining orderly conduct of students on the bus.
  • Working a full-time position with a guaranteed six hours per day.
  • Reporting every day school is in session, with the same route daily.
  • Being eligible to sign up for extra work.


Paid Training Rate:

 Salary: $22.95/Hour  (When in training, you would be eligible to work as a bus assistant at $18.49 per hour.)

Substitute Part-Time:

Salary: $25.34/hour  (Variable Schedule and Flexible Hours)

Full-Time Salary & Benefits: (6-hours)

Starting Hourly Rate: $26.45
