Tooling Engineer
Sharonville, OH – Livonia, MI – Dearborn, MI

Job Description

We are a family-owned business that supplies cutting tools, abrasives, and other manufacturing supplies to aerospace, defense and automotive customers.  Founded in 1958, we are the largest cutting tool reconditioning firm in North America.  We are committed to providing quality products and outstanding service, supported by the uncompromising dedication of our employees. This position will be based on-site at one of our major automotive manufacturing customers' facilities. Openings are currently available in Sharonville, OH, Livonia, MI, and Dearborn, MI. Applicants will be considered for the location they select during the application process.

If you have

  • At least 3 years of machining experience
  • High Volume manufacturing experience a plus
  • Experience working with Union personnel
  • Must have strong technical knowledge of cutting tools and cutting tool applications
  • Process improvement experience
  • Knowledge of cutting tool geometry
  • Knowledge of cutting tool manufacturers
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work as an integral part of the team
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Experience with multi-axis machine tool programing a plus
  • Ability to interpret complex prints and models
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Data analysis
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Improve existing processes and applications by reviewing objectives and specifications
  • Recommend changes and make modifications to tooling, applications and processes of machining as needed
  • Continuous search for cost savings and productivity improvements

 A typical day may look like this

  • Assist with tooling performance checks
  • Works with production team to determine tooling needs
  • Troubleshooting of issues relating to product application
  • Application support of new products
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management
  • 40% Sitting
  • 40% Standing
  • 20% Walking
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs.
