Job Description

Lead a high-performing maintenance team in a fast-paced manufacturing facility, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining compliance with food-grade standards. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with strategic planning, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 15–20 maintenance technicians across multiple shifts.
  • Build and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve uptime and equipment reliability.
  • Provide direction on troubleshooting, repairs, and root-cause analysis for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Partner with Quality to implement and maintain ISO standards, GMP practices, and sanitation-related maintenance protocols.
  • Support or lead small-to-mid-scale capex initiatives, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and equipment performance using Lean/5S methodologies.
  • Oversee external service providers, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion of work.
  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and internal safety standards.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of maintenance leadership experience in addition to previous technical hands-on experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with ISO, GMP, or food-grade manufacturing standards.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Safety.
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing, injection molding, extrusion, or similar continuous-process environments.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems, data-driven maintenance planning, and KPI tracking.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree is a plus but not required with experience.
  • Exposure to capital projects, equipment installations, or facility upgrades.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or reliability-centered maintenance experience strongly preferred.
