Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Lead a large 24/7 maintenance team supporting Cereal and Snacks production at the Covington site, a strategic General Mills location. This role provides strategic leadership and direction to maintenance managers, maintenance team leaders, asset care leaders, maintenance capability specialists, reliability maintenance, controls technicians, utility technicians, and storeroom personnel. This role will require extensive partnership with our corporate maintenance and reliability team to ensure we are creating a proactive maintenance strategy across the site.
The Maintenance and Reliability Manager works extensively with plant floor personnel, senior leadership, corporate maintenance and reliability, engineering, external support, and vendors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Safety Leadership: Champion a safety-first culture, proactively identifying and mitigating physical, environmental, and behavioral hazards to achieve zero injuries.
  • Asset Care Strategy: Develop and implement a world-class Asset Care strategy, including Planning and Scheduling.
  • Talent Development: Build a robust talent pipeline within the maintenance organization through targeted capability building initiatives.
  • Relationship Management: Foster strong working relationships with maintenance leadership, asset care leaders, storeroom personnel, engineers, maintenance technicians, and operations technicians.
  • Proactive Maintenance: Cultivate a proactive work environment, engaging maintenance capability specialists in the planning, coordination, and execution of work, while also building maintenance skills in operations technicians.
  • Equipment Reliability: Provide strategic leadership to Asset Care Leaders in developing and implementing an effective equipment reliability program incorporating Planned Maintenance systems.
  • Best Practices: Partner with the Corporate Maintenance and Reliability Team to implement industry best practices, including leveraging our GIC partners.
  • Technical Expertise: Develop and maintain expertise within the maintenance organization across all electrical/controls platforms.
  • Refrigeration Management: Develop expertise in ammonia refrigeration and actively participate on the Process Safety Management team.
  • Budget Management: Manage plant maintenance budgets for all business platforms.
  • Breakdown Elimination: Institute a zero breakdown methodology using breakdown elimination and other proactive tools and processes.
  • CMMS Optimization: Ensure full utilization of the Maximo CMMS system.
  • Predictive Maintenance: Implement and leverage predictive maintenance technologies to enhance reliability and increase planned maintenance activity.
  • Asset Integrity: Manage the integrity and maintenance of all plant assets, including production equipment, facilities, and utility equipment.
  • Maintenance Prevention: Establish maintenance prevention specifications to ensure plant and equipment reliability and ease of maintenance.
  • Strategic Input: Engage in strategy, direction, and execution discussions for maintenance/reliability and plant-wide initiatives.
  • Capital Project Support: Provide input on new capital projects/initiatives to ensure long-term asset care.
  • Coaching and Development: Coach and develop the team to achieve breakthrough results and effectively utilize foundational systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related degree with applicable experience or extensive relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing technology, including product and equipment complexities, and cost considerations
  • Demonstrated understanding of Preventive/Predictive Maintenance program elements
  • Experience developing best practice standards for all Maintenance functions and activities
  • Experience with World Class Maintenance, TPM, or similar systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree; Engineering degree preferred from an ABET-accredited program is highly desirable

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $108900.00 - $163500.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
