So, what does a Terminal Maintenance Mechanic Do? As a Terminal Maintenance Mechanic, you'll be an integral part of our terminal operations team:
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing PM requirements on motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and production-related equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair basic hydraulic/pneumatic systems, conveyor belts.
  • Remove defective part dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviewing technical publications and working with vendors to stay current with plant technology
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulation.
  • Coordinate, verify and report down time for the assigned shift.
  • Communicate with management regarding condition of critical plant equipment to minimize down time.
  • Performs general labor as required, including landscaping/yard work, painting and general maintenance.

Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • At least one year's experience in industrial maintenance required.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in steel fabrication and welding highly preferred.
  • Experience in electrical panels and electrical machinery.
  • Experience in the maritime, shipping port, dock, or cement/concrete industry highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of varied types of motors and their operation highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, using diagram schematics and parts manual highly preferred.
  • Must have willingness to put in extra hours of work when necessary
  • Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA, as they apply to the operation a plus.
