Job description

This position is responsible for the effective direction and leadership of the Evendale Manufacturing Plant maintenance department as well as driving continuous improvement activities throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Proactive leader in safety management including driving adherence to all statutory and Formica safety standards and thoroughly assess all work for hazards and manage those hazards effectively.
  • Focus on continuing to drive effectiveness of proactive maintenance systems such as computerized maintenance management systems, predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, and reliability centered maintenance, and storeroom management.
  • Assist the plant management team in the development, implementation and general oversight of effective maintenance systems that ensure all manufacturing equipment performs to its maximum capacity at lowest cost.
  • Manage maintenance supervision and planning team to ensure efficient prioritization and full utilization of maintenance technicians on a 24/7 basis.
  • ESR Prioritization to capex level, participation in capex planning and execution of projects.
  • Shutdown Planning.
  • Manage Mobile Equipment Program.
  • Oversee the operation of the Apprenticeship Program.
  • Development planning for direct reports including determining training requirements when appropriate.
  • Work as a partner with the union to effectively resolve issues as they arise.

Requirements:
  • 4 year technical degree or equivalent, preferably ME or EE.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience working in progressively more challenging roles in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience a must.
  • Proven team builder, catalyst for change, strong communicator, solid organizational skills, good time management and administrative skills.
  • Good computer skills and the ability to effectively use various information systems.
  • Excellent communication and effective coaching skills to empower staff to become self-sufficient in managing work assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and able to troubleshoot and repair mill equipment.
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 operation environment and be flexible to respond to their share of after work calls as well participate in periodic shutdowns.
  • MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Project, CAD, experience with CMMS and Industrial Controls.
  • Position requires management of rotating shifts which will result in occasional off-shift meetings, participation in on-call duty rotation, minimal travel, heightened hours during planned and unplanned equipment outages
