Job Overview
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance team and overseeing all building and equipment maintenance for a high-volume bakery and restaurant operation. This position requires an experienced maintenance professional with a strong background in food production equipment, facility systems, preventive maintenance planning, and team leadership. The Maintenance Manager ensures equipment is operating safely and efficiently, repairs are completed in a timely manner, and the facility remains in compliance with health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
โ€ข Supervise, train, direct, and support maintenance staff. Hold maintenance team members accountable to performance standards, safety protocols, and work quality.
โ€ข Assign daily work orders and make sure tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
โ€ข Assist with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of maintenance personnel.
โ€ข Working with the team, this is a hand-on role, not solely administrative.
โ€ข Oversee and perform preventative and routine maintenance in bakery, kitchen, cafรฉ, and facility systems.
โ€ข Troubleshoot and repair industrial bakery equipment including Ovens, mixers, sheeters, proofers, refrigeration units, dish machines, and conveyors.
โ€ข Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
โ€ข Work with controls and automation systems including PLCs, sensors, relays, and temperature control systems.
โ€ข Use a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or similar maintenance tracking system to:
โ€ข Follow and enforce proper lockout/tagout and other OSHA-required safety procedures.
โ€ข Maintain and manage spare parts inventory for critical equipment.
โ€ข Coordinate external service providers, specialty technicians, and equipment vendors.
โ€ข Maintain professional relationships with outside service partners.
Requirements
โ€ข 5+ years of professional maintenance experience, preferably in a bakery, commercial kitchen, food production, or manufacturing environment.
โ€ข Supervisory or management experience is required (leading, directing, and evaluating maintenance staff).
โ€ข Experience with controls systems (PLCs, HMIs, sensors, temperature controls).
โ€ข Experience using work order or maintenance management systems.
โ€ข Able to lift to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for long periods.
โ€ข Must be able to work flexible hours based on business needs, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, or holidays as required.
โ€ข Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays based on the need of the business.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
โ€ข Electrical training or industrial electrical coursework
โ€ข PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) -Controls Systems Training
โ€ข HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) Certification
โ€ข OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (Occupational Safety and Health 10-hour training or 30-hour training.
