Summary:

Responsible for leading and overseeing the maintenance team to ensure the efficient operation of facility equipment and systems. This role involves supervising technicians, evaluating performance, and maintaining a high standard of work quality and safety compliance. Key responsibilities include conducting regular inspections, identifying maintenance needs, and responding to emergency repairs to minimize downtime. The supervisor will also manage documentation, enforce safety protocols, and develop preventive maintenance schedules in coordination with the Maintenance Manager. Strong technical knowledge, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential to effectively delegate tasks, communicate across departments, and ensure continuous plant operations.


Essential Duties:


  • Leading and supervising maintenance staff:  Providing guidance and direction to maintenance technicians, evaluating performance, and addressing any issues related to work quality or safety. 
  • Conducting inspections and assessments:  Regularly inspect facilities and equipment to identify potential problems, assess maintenance needs, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. 
  • Responding to emergencies:  Being available on call with company provided cellular phone to promptly respond to urgent maintenance issues and coordinate repairs during critical situations.
  • Maintaining documentation and records:  Ensure all personnel are keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, repairs completed, and parts inventory. 
  • Promoting safety compliance:  Enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety training, and addressing safety concerns within the maintenance team. 
  • Planning and scheduling maintenance activities:  Confer with Maintenance Manager to create scheduled short and long-term maintenance work. Create preventative maintenance schedules, assigning tasks to technicians based on priority and skill level, and coordinating repairs with outside vendors. 

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge:  Understanding of various building systems, mechanical equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, and other relevant maintenance disciplines. 
  • Leadership skills:  Ability to motivate and manage a team, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve conflicts along with performing corrective actions in accordance with company guidelines and policies.
  • Problem-solving skills: Identifying root causes of maintenance issues and developing solutions to resolve them efficiently. Must have the ability to evaluate personnel on work knowledge and performance, as well as services provided by contractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Communication skills: Clear communication with maintenance staff, management, and other departments regarding maintenance needs and updates. Provide a positive "team attitude" in support of achieving company goals.
  • Organizational skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage of plant operations, and maintain accurate records.
