We are seeking an Automation Engineer to strengthen our Production Engineering team.

Your core responsibilities include:
  • Design and implement automated manufacturing processes to improve production efficiency and performance.
  • Analyse production processes and identify opportunities to increase automation and optimise equipment utilisation.
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers to develop safe, efficient and high-quality manufacturing solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within automated production equipment, PLC systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead capital investment projects for new and upgraded equipment, ensuring clear return on investment and effective budget management.
  • Support quotation activities, investment planning and manufacturing feasibility studies for new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with Production Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure successful introduction and handover of new automated systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including machine upgrades, process optimisation, OEE improvements and JIT activities.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including FMEA, process flow diagrams, control plans and APQP requirements.
  • Define project targets, monitor performance and implement actions to maximise productivity, quality and operational efficiency.
Profile and Qualifications:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in PLC programming, fault finding and implementation of automated manufacturing systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Keyence or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of robotics, pneumatic systems and mechanical equipment used in production environments.
  • Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as RCCA, DMAIC, PDCA, 5 Why and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Knowledge of IATF-compliant production engineering documentation, including FMEA, control plans and process flow diagrams.
  • Understanding of OEE, planned maintenance systems and spare parts management.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including capital investment planning and implementation.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience within automotive and/or electronics manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
