Job description

Job Overview

This role is a Mechanical Engineer on the CPNA Maintenance and Engineering team in Kalama, WA. The position is responsible for design, installation, and maintenance of electrical and automation equipment, while ensuring documentation and standards are maintained.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • Direct design and installation of new or replacement equipment.
  • Develop standards for reliability and guidelines for engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain and update engineering drawings and technical information.
  • Perform daily maintenance activities on equipment and systems.
  • Support maintenance during breakdowns, line shuts, and annual shutdowns.
  • Identify and implement process equipment improvements using reliabilityโ€‘based maintenance philosophy.
  • Lead design and development of mechanical projects and initiatives at the plant.
  • Work with planners/schedulers to develop detailed shutdown work plans.
  • Establish repair priorities through communication with operating departments, maintenance associates, and planners.
  • Document activities and status in work orders and keep planners informed of repair status.
  • Provide direction to maintenance associates and contract labor.
  • Optimize spare parts inventory, develop efficient supply contracts, and minimize stock holding costs.
  • Develop and organize training programs for maintenance associates covering operations, maintenance, and safety.
  • Conduct rootโ€‘cause analysis on equipment failures and implement preventive measures.
  • Assist other maintenance activities across CPNA as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a mechanical engineering role; 2 years in industrial maintenance engineering.
  • Preferred: 5 years industrial maintenance engineering experience.
  • Heavy manufacturing experience with automation project implementation and proven cost and performance outcomes.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong technical ability to manage projects, budgeting, design, manpower allocation, timeline development, documentation, and instruction.
  • Proficiency interpreting technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.
  • Analytical problemโ€‘solving skills applying principles of mechanics, electricity, and fluid dynamics.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and SAP.
  • Excellent written communication and functional/technical skills.
  • Drive for results, team building, process management, and intellectual horsepower.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $115,000 โ€“ $142,000 per year. Targeted 15% bonus available. Eligible for 401(k) savings plan, healthcare (medical, dental, vision), paid time off, retirement, life insurance, and short/longโ€‘term disability. Other rewards provided.
