Job description

Position Summary:

Little Black Pearl, a nonprofit organization committed to art, education, and community development, seeks a dedicated Facilities and Events Maintenance Associate to support the upkeep of the facility and participate in seamless operations during and after special events. The ideal candidate will have experience in cleaning commercial facilities, demonstrate reliability, and be adept at working independently. Although the ideal candidate will have a set daily schedule, flexibility in scheduling for support to special events, and a commitment to industry cleaning and safety standards are essential.

Key Responsibilities: Facility Maintenance
  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of all building areas using specific and approved cleaning products, including classrooms, studios, offices, restrooms, and common spaces.
  • Ensure all surfaces, equipment, and fixtures are sanitized in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of interior/exterior property areas, including entryways and walkways.
  • Monitor the building for repair needs and report maintenance issues to the Facilities Engineer or Director of Maintenance and Facilities.
  • Available to work evenings from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm (Monday – Saturday) and has flexibility as needed to work during scheduled events.
Event Support & Maintenance
  • When scheduled, will provide on-site support during special events, including setup assistance, troubleshooting the facility, and event area maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related issues during events (e.g., spills, equipment malfunctions).
  • Manage post-event breakdown procedures, ensuring all event materials and furniture are properly collected and stored.
  • Work collaboratively with the events and maintenance teams to restore venue spaces to pre-conditioned setup.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and leftover food, following sanitation and sustainability protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities, custodial services, or event maintenance.
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Familiarity with cleaning procedures, building systems, and custodial equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed to support event operations.
  • Must be trustworthy, reliable, and responsible
  • Ability and willingness to carry out instructions efficiently.
  • Be able to pass a background check
Preferred Skills:
  • Basic troubleshooting or repair skills (e.g., minor carpentry skills).
