Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Mainframe / COBOL Developer position with a Regional Financial Institution located in Columbus, OH. This is a contract to hire opportunity.
Compensation: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour, W2, based on qualifications

Position Overview:
We are looking for a talented and experienced Mainframe / COBOL Developer to join our client's team and support a variety of financial data projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in COBOL programming, JCL, and DB2 in mainframe environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, test, maintain, upgrade, and optimize COBOL programs and JCL scripts for data processing and reporting
  • Write and manage JCL scripts for batch job execution
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Collaborate with business partners and technical teams to implement logic changes and ensure data accuracy to support financial reporting and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with analysts, QA, and other developers to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Execute testing cycles and assist in troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Document code changes and create technical documentation
  • Participate in code reviews and adhere to development standards
  • Support production deployments and incident resolution

Primary Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in COBOL development and mainframe systems
  • Proficiency in:
    • COBOL, JCL, Easytrieve, VSAM, and DB2
    • File-AID, TSO/ISPF, Abend-AID
    • Changeman for version control and deployment
    • Mainframe scheduling tools for job automation and batch processing
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Oracle Financial Services Analytical Applications (OFSAA)
  • ZEKE/ZENA scheduling tools
  • Industry experience in finance
  • Experience with financial data structures, financial and regulatory reporting
