Job Title

Enterprise Senior Advisor - Software Engineering

About this Role:
A great Enterprise Architect within the Global Issuer organization acts as a hands-on technical advisor, guiding engineering teams through complex modernization and transformation initiatives across enterprise-scale platforms. This role combines architecture depth with practical engineering judgment to help simplify legacy ecosystems, modernize core capabilities, and deliver resilient, scalable, cloud-ready solutions.
You will work closely with technology leaders, product owners, architects, engineers, and delivery teams to translate business priorities into clear architecture choices, executable designs, and pragmatic implementation guidance. The role requires the ability to stay close to the technical details, review solution options, identify risks and dependencies, and help teams make sound engineering decisions from strategy through delivery.
What You'll Do:

  • Serve as a hands-on architecture and engineering advisor for large-scale transformation initiatives across products, platforms, and services.
  • Guide target-state architectures, modernization roadmaps, integration patterns, and reusable engineering standards.
  • Work directly with engineering teams to shape solution designs that are practical, secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned to enterprise standards.
  • Advise teams on simplifying complex legacy environments while enabling resilient, future-ready platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance across application, data, cloud, integration, API, microservices, and platform layers.
  • Review design options, technical trade-offs, dependencies, risks, and implementation approaches with engineering teams.
  • Promote engineering patterns that support reuse, automation, observability, resiliency, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with product, engineering, architecture, and operations leaders to align technology decisions with business priorities and delivery outcomes.
  • Develop architecture artifacts, design specifications, integration models, infrastructure diagrams, and delivery guidance that teams can execute against.
  • Help remove technical ambiguity, resolve design conflicts, and support engineering teams through implementation challenges.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of experience in large-scale technology engineering, architecture, design, and implementation, with demonstrated hands-on advisory experience in complex transformation programs.
  • 7+ years of experience with Java technology stack, including Java/Spring Boot-based application architecture, APIs, and microservices.
  • Proven experience guiding modernization, platform transformation, cloud adoption, or large-scale engineering change initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, data platforms, integration patterns, APIs, microservices, cloud practices, and enterprise delivery models.
  • Ability to advise senior stakeholders while staying engaged with engineering teams on practical design and implementation decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect business operations, technology dependencies, platform constraints, and measurable outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and guide technical decision-making.
  • Bachelors degree in IT or relevant experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience with event streaming platforms and patterns, such as Kafka-based event processing, pub/sub architecture, event-driven integration, and real-time data flows.
  • Knowledge of mainframe operations, legacy modernization, or distributed platform migration is preferred.
  • Experience with domain-driven design; cloud, data, and microservices architecture experience preferred.

How you'll work:

  • Fiserv emphasizes in-person collaboration to help you grow your career while shaping the future of fintech; this role is on-site Monday through Friday.
  • This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
  • In order to be considered, you must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
