Job Description

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking an Atlassian architect who can design and configure a new Jira environment, build a production-grade integration with a custom portfolio application, and challenge workflow decisions that would automate a broken process. This role combines platform architecture, software integration, process engineering, and client-facing consulting in a large, matrixed enterprise.

The ideal candidate will bring depth across three areas:

  • Enterprise Jira architecture, including schemes, workflows, permissions, automation, and governance
  • Application engineering, including REST APIs, GitLab delivery practices, resilient data synchronization, and production supportability.
  • Process consulting, including current-state discovery, future-state design, stakeholder alignment, and adoption.
WHAT YOUโ€™LL DO:

You will join a client program connecting an internally hosted portfolio application, its GitLab codebase, and an Airtable data layer to Jira. You will own the solution from discovery and blueprint through build, testing, cutover, and administrator enablement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years hands-on Jira administration, architecture, consulting experience, including at least two environments or major project portfolios designed and configured from the ground up.
  • Atlassian certification such as ACP-120 Jira Administration for Cloud or a comparable current credential.
  • Experience building Atlassian Forge apps or other approved Jira extensions.
  • Experience enabling Rovo, Model Context Protocol integrations, or other agent-based capabilities within enterprise governance standards.
  • Experience with the Airtable API and integrations involving enterprise portfolio or workmanagement platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of Jira workflows, screens, custom fields, issue types, permissions, notifications, and schemes interactions at enterprise scale.
  • Production experience designing and building Jira REST API integrations with an external system of record.
  • Working proficiency in Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or Java, with the ability to write, review, test, and troubleshoot integration code.
  • Fluency with Git and GitLab, including branching strategies, merge requests, peer review, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience designing reliable synchronization patterns, including conflict handling, rate limits, pagination, idempotency, retries, observability, and bulk backfill.
  • Experience delivering technology solutions in a large, matrixed enterprise with formal security review, change control, and release governance.
  • Strong Agile delivery, process design, release management, and program or portfolio management knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain design tradeoffs to technical and nontechnical audiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the design, architecture, and configuration of Jira solutions, including project structures, issue hierarchies, workflows, custom fields, permissions, notifications, automation, and governance standards.
  • Architect, build, and support integrations between Jira and enterprise applications, defining data mappings, synchronization strategies, authentication methods, monitoring, and error-handling approaches.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams within GitLab environments to develop and maintain integrations, establish end-to-end traceability, and support modern CI/CD delivery practices.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate future-state operating models and delivery requirements into scalable Jira workflows, controls, and platform configurations.
  • Design and implement automation and extensibility solutions using Jira Automation, Atlassian Forge, and other platform capabilities to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Establish delivery governance standards, including workflow controls, Definition of Ready (DoR), Definition of Done (DoD), auditability requirements, and appropriate AI governance frameworks.
  • Develop portfolio-level reporting, dashboards, and executive metrics that provide meaningful visibility into delivery performance, operational health, and business outcomes.
  • Lead solution validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), production deployment activities, and knowledge transfer, including technical documentation, administrator runbooks, and end-user enablement.
