Handler II, Materials | Boston Childrens Hospital

Schedule: 7:00am-4:30pm Position Summary: Receives, distributes, stores and expedites flow of supplies, equipment, mail and/or linen into and out of hospital complex and surrounding facilities. Operates hospital vehicle, delivers medical gases and enters information into materials management and/or mail computer systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive materials from vendors, verify accuracy and count, and route items to final destinations while maintaining related documentation.
  • Respond to hospital staff inquiries about deliveries and shipments; expedite orders as needed.
  • Maintain medical gas inventory according to required par levels and established schedules. Respond to routine and emergency requests for delivery and retrieval of gas cylinders.
  • Pick up and deliver supplies, mail, equipment, specimens and other related items. Assist Receiving/Distribution personnel in loading and off-loading.
  • Handle mail, packages, and patient-related items professionally and confidentially; interact courteously with staff and customers.
  • Maintain logs and records of receipts, deliveries, equipment maintenance, and ensure work area is clean and safe.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: A high school diploma or GED
  • Experience: A Minimum of 1 year of related work experience is required.
