On-Call Mail Clerk
Location:Onsite - Portland, Oregon


TDEC, a nationally recognized Business Processing Organization (BPO), seeks anOn Call Mail Clerk to support our client, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, in Portland, Oregon.

H&W: $4.93

Regular Pay: $22.20

Forklift Pay: $23.77 (10% of the total hours worked each week)



The candidateMUSTbe able to work onsite.This position isOn Call and does not have a set guaranteed number of hours. The work involves standing, stopping, walking, and lifting. Candidate may be required to move delivery carts and bulky cartons and bundles weighing up to 80 pounds. Candidate may also be required to transport cartons and packages weighing up to 200 pounds by hand truck, flat cart, or pallet jack.


Responsibilities

  • Receives, sorts and distributes incoming mail. Candidate will correctly classify the subject matter in order to route mail to all building tenants.
  • Candidate must apply federal and agency policies in reading and sorting mail.
  • Collects and processes outgoing mail.
  • Operates postage machine and other mailroom equipment as needed.
  • Analyzes problems in mail delivery; works with clients to identify solutions.
  • Processes mail requiring special handling or priority such as controlled correspondence.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as answering telephones, handling mail, operating office equipment and maintaining office supplies.
  • Functions as Receiving Clerk for NRO supplies and equipment.
  • Gathers, compiles, and verifies information and performs data entry.


Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80lbs.
  • Knowledge of postal regulations and agency directives concerning the process and handling of general and special category mail.
  • Knowledge of effective mail operations to include but not limited to: mail center layout, USPS automation programs, maintaining efficient messenger route duties, operating postal meter equipment, and associated clerical duties.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation for a security clearance
  • Must be willing to obtain forklift certification.
