Job description

Position Title: Maintenance Engineer
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Luxfer Magtech specializes in developing, manufacturing, and supplying a broad range of products that safeguard and protect, ranging from flameless ration heaters that give our U.S. Military a hot meal; innovative chemical response kits designed to detect and decontaminate chemical warfare agents; to nutritious hot food and beverage options for militaries and first responders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Maintenance Engineer supports the Engineering Manager and manufacturing operations through the design, improvement, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing equipment, machinery, and production systems for the Cincinnati facility. This position is responsible for supporting machine design projects, equipment modifications, capital equipment initiatives, manufacturing process improvements, technical documentation, and engineering analysis activities. The Maintenance Engineer serves as an entry-level member of the engineering team by developing technical expertise in manufacturing systems, equipment design, and operational engineering while providing technical and project support to the Engineering Manager in achieving operational, safety, quality, and productivity objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist Support machine design, equipment improvement, and manufacturing engineering projects
  • Assist with equipment modifications focused on reliability, safety, throughput, ergonomics, and maintainability including testing for new product design
  • Support manufacturing equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and validation activities
  • Assist with tooling, fixtures, machine guarding, and mechanical system improvements
  • Develop and maintain:
  • Mechanical drawings
  • Equipment documentation
  • Layouts and technical records
  • Support evaluation and implementation of new manufacturing equipment and capital projects
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager on active engineering and operational initiatives
  • Develop technical understanding of specialized manufacturing equipment and systems
  • Support engineering analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical manufacturing equipment when needed
  • Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across manufacturing operations
  • Support building security and maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Industrial Technology required
  • 0-3 years of manufacturing, industrial, mechanical engineering, or related experience preferred
  • Co-op, internship, maintenance, fabrication, or industrial experience highly valued
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and assembly required
  • Working with industrial manufacturing equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of motors, gearboxes, bearings, and rotating equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems preferred
  • Use of machine tools and fabrication equipment preferred
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings preferred
  • Some knowledge of or experience with basic PLC or industrial controls preferred
  • Familiarity with VFDs, sensors, and automation preferred
  • Exposure to electrical schematics preferred
