WELDER/FABRICATOR

Job Description

The Company specializes in manufacturing and integrating electrical apparatus, offering tailored solutions to meet customer requirements. The welder/fabricator is a skilled position that requires interpreting blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, operating heavy machinery, and assembling components to fabricate structural frameworks, sheet metal parts and enclosures.

Core Responsibilities

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read, analyze, and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD designs.
  • Material Preparation: Measure, mark, cut, trim, and shape raw materials like steel or aluminum to required dimensions.
  • Machinery Operation: Operate fabrication equipment safely, including power saws, shears, brakes, presses, grinders, weld machines and CNC equipment.
  • Assembly & Joining: Assemble cut pieces using mechanical fasteners, or Fit & MIG welding technique.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect and measure finished components against product specifications and tolerances using measuring tools.
  • Maintenance: Perform some routine maintenance and safety checks on fabrication equipment.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, including the proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Key Requirements

  • Education & Training: Specialized certifications (e.g., American Welding Society) or vocational/trade school degrees are highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery. Basic understanding of blueprint reading is a plus.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, squat, bend and lift heavy materials (often up to 50 lbs.). Excellent eyesight, fine motor skills, and color vision are often required.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail to troubleshoot fit issues or adjust designs for optimal functionality.

Work Environment

  • Shop: You can expect to work around heavy machinery and moving equipment in an environment that may involve varying temperatures, moderate to high noise levels, and occasional exposure to dust, fumes, or chemicals (all within regulated safety limits)
  • Hours: Standard 40-hour work week with overtime as required by business needs.
