    Job Summary: The Custom Door Shop Craftsman is responsible for building and assembling custom door units according to customer specifications and production requirements. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret work orders and measurements, and experience operating hand tools, power tools, and specialized door shop equipment. The position supports shop productivity while ensuring quality workmanship, efficiency, and compliance with Company safety standards.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Build and assemble high-quality custom door units according to customer specifications and production requirements.
    • Read and interpret work orders, measurements, and production specifications accurately.
    • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and specialized door shop equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure quality workmanship and accurate product assembly.
    • Ensure products are manufactured efficiently and in compliance with Company quality and safety standards.
    • Support overall shop productivity, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
    • Safely operate a forklift to move materials to appropriate areas of the shop.
    • Pick and pull production materials as needed to support workflow.
    • Load, unload, store, and package materials as required.
    • Move completed products to the packaging/shipping area of the production line.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all safety policies and procedures.
    • Collaborative team player with a strong ability to work effectively with others.
    Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
    • Ability to read and interpret shop orders, measurements, blueprints, and production specifications accurately.
    • Knowledge of wood species, door styles, millwork products, and door construction methods.
    • Experience operating power tools including table saws, miter saws, drills, sanders, joiners, and planers.
    • Proficiency using hand tools such as chisels, hammers, measuring tools, and other carpentry equipment.
    • Familiarity with specialized door shop equipment including Norfield Magnum series machines, door stitchers, and 3-point lock systems or similar machinery.
    • Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and accuracy in product assembly and finishing.
    • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team-oriented environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate a forklift.
    • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
    • Reliable and dependable.
    • Patient and composed under pressure.
