Description

OVERVIEW:  The Maintenance Manager is a working role which repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. The position will also complete a variety of special projects that can include but are not limited to concreate repair, construction, painting, and cleaning. The role also manages s the Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Workers, sets the maintenance budget, and oversees the maintenance department. 


 ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS: 

Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

Repairs or replaces defective parts.

Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

Lubricates and cleans parts.

Starts devices to test their performance.

Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

Programs PLC's. 

Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.

Repairs electrical equipment.

Performs maintenance on production and office areas. 

Perform building upkeep tasks that include but are no limited too painting, sanitation, grounds keeping. 

Plans, organizes, and executed construction and demolition projects

Follows and ensures good manufacturing practices at all times

Follows and adheres to the company's safety program

In charge of interviewing, hiring, and training employees as well as administering performance reviews, addressing complaints and resolving problems

Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments and directly supervise the plant staff to ensure the achievement of production objectives at the lowest cost consistent with company quality requirements.

Must be able to respond to emergency breakdowns by coming onsite or effectively delegating tasks to a skilled team member to ensure smooth operations.

Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Must be able to adapt to a changing work environment

  • Ability to train and mentor other team members
  • Must be able to follow instructions and respond to management direction. 
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee may be exposed to extreme cold environment. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level of the work environment is usually loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Peripheral vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance experience to include all phases of preventive and corrective maintenance,      including industrial and/or commercial facilities maintenance is required.
  • PLC programming experience. 
  • Basic computer skills.
