Ecommerce B2C Systems Analyst (Magento)
Position Overview:
Client is seeking a B2C Systems Analyst specializing in Magento performance and scalability. This role bridges business and technology teams to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and user experience across our eCommerce platform.
The analyst will drive performance optimization initiatives, support incident root cause analysis, define system requirements, and collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to deliver scalable and resilient solutions. The role will also serve as a key contributor to performance strategy and continuous improvement initiatives across the B2C platform.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, improving page load times, system throughput, and platform stability under peak demand conditions
  • Caching and Scalability: Implement and manage Varnish caching strategies to enhance load times and improve scalability.
  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration with Medline's APIs, payment gateways, and other third-party systems without compromising performance.
  • Monitoring and Diagnosis: Leverage observability platforms (New Relic preferred) to proactively detect anomalies, reduce incident MTTR, and drive performance optimization initiatives
  • Collaboration: Partner with DevOps teams to optimize hosting solutions on platforms such as AWS or Azure, ensuring smooth deployment and CDN configurations.
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation of performance strategies, configurations, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Support production incident triage and performance-related escalations, ensuring rapid diagnosis and resolution

Business & Analytical Responsibilities:
  • Translate business requirements into technical performance and scalability solutions
  • Participate in incident RCA and post-mortem analysis, identifying systemic improvements
  • Define SLAs, KPIs, and performance benchmarks for B2C platforms
  • Partner with product and business teams to prioritize enhancements based on customer impact
  • Support UAT, load testing, and production readiness reviews (ORR)

Core Experience
  • 5+ years of Magento (Magento 2 preferred) experience with a focus on performance optimization
  • Experience optimizing Magento in cloud environments (Azure preferred)

Technical Expertise
  • Strong expertise in Varnish, Redis, and CDN configurations
  • Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and Magento architecture
  • Experience with performance profiling and debugging tools (New Relic preferred)

Cloud & Infrastructure
  • Experience with Azure App Services and Azure MySQL Flexible Server
  • Familiarity with CDN platforms (Akamai, Cloudflare, or Azure Front Door)

Performance & Security
  • Database optimization (indexing, query tuning)
  • Understanding of WAF, caching layers, and performance-security interactions

Preferred Skills
  • Understanding of eCommerce industry best practices and user experience considerations.
  • Experience with traffic management and load balancing.
  • Knowledge of DevOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Magento upgrades (2.4.x)
  • Familiarity with headless commerce architectures and API-driven integrations
  • Exposure to observability practices and dashboarding (New Relic, Datadog)
  • Experience supporting high-traffic B2C platforms
