Do you have the mindset to mentor your team on emerging technologies, generative AI, headless commerce, marketplace orchestration, and help them architect solutions built to scale? Can you partner with our delivery managers on the technical strategy behind major implementations for clients across the globe? Are you energized by the fast-moving intersection of eCommerce, Marketplaces, Martech, AI, and cloud technologies? Have you built the kind of thought leadership that gets you invited to speak at industry conferences?

If you like what you read, take a look at the role below — we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Top 5 Responsibilities

  1. Architect scalable solution designs. Design end-to-end platform architectures on Adobe Commerce, commercetools, SFCC, SAP Hybris, Mirakl, and similar systems. Ensure architectures incorporate data pipelines, analytics, API integrations, and microservices patterns. Produce solution design documents and integration specifications for delivery teams.
  2. Advise clients on platform and solution strategy. Serve as trusted technical advisor to existing clients, recommend cross-sell opportunities (data management, platform modernization, advanced analytics), evaluate emerging partner solutions, and guide implementations toward best practices.
  3. Lead discovery and solution design. Conduct technical discovery sessions with enterprise clients to gather business, technical, and marketplace requirements. Translate needs into detailed solution architectures that integrate platforms (Adobe Commerce, commercetools, Mirakl, Databricks, etc.) with enterprise systems and improve business processes.
  4. Evaluate and integrate AI/ML capabilities. Assess emerging AI and machine learning technologies, including LLMs, generative AI, recommendation engines, intelligent search, and dynamic pricing, and advise how they enhance client solutions and McFadyen's delivery capabilities. Support proof-of-concept development and AI roadmap planning.
  5. Develop compelling proposals and business cases. Author solution proposals, ROI statements, and demo materials that communicate value to executive and technical stakeholders. Partner with sales and delivery to scope, estimate, and price engagements.

Additional Key Responsibilities

  • Estimate effort, staffing, and timelines for delivery teams and cost models for proposals.
  • Stay current on platform roadmaps and partner ecosystems; demo capabilities to prospects and clients.
  • Mentor delivery and engineering teams on architecture best practices and commerce/marketplace domain expertise.
  • Author thought leadership content and case studies for marketing and sales enablement.

Top 5 Qualifications

1. 10+ years of technical architecture or sales engineering experience focused on ecommerce, marketplaces, or digital commerce platforms, with exposure to both B2B and B2C/retail environments.

2. Proven track record in sales-engineering or presales roles, including solutioning, effort estimation, proposal/SOW development, and RFP/RFI response for enterprise clients.

4. Strong communication and presentation skills demonstrated through successful engagement with C-level executives and technical stakeholders at enterprise scale.

5. Understanding of modern architecture patterns (API-first, headless, composable, microservices) and integration approaches (REST, GraphQL, event-driven). Experience with data architecture and analytics is a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data engineering, data warehousing, data lakes, or analytics platforms (Databricks experience is a major plus).
  • Familiarity with cloud AI/ML platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure AI, Google Vertex AI) and MLOps.
