Job description

McBride Homes is seeking an experienced residential Wall Panel Designer to join our team. As a designer you will be responsible for designing building components such as manufactured wood framed wall panels and/or manufactured floor systems. This role will support all projects from design to production. This position will be located on site at our corporate office in Chesterfield, MO.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $100,000/yr. depending on experience and an annual, discretionary bonus program
Key Responsibilities:
  • Use both structural and architectural plans to produce wall panel component drawings within a CAD based system
  • Generate completed drawings into 3D for review and analysis
  • Strong knowledge of floor, wall and roof systems
  • Resolve architectural and structural design conflicts
  • Perform wall panel material take offs and produce materials list (BOM)
  • Coordinate design closely with manager and plant operations
  • Ensure design deadlines are hit to meet production schedules
  • Clarify any specifications and answer questions from production floor and field construction staff
  • Perform occasional post manufacturing/installation job site visits (design review)
  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of the capabilities for the factory equipment and products highly cost effective and production friendly component designs

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum associates degree in a technical program
  • 3+ years of experience designing wall components or related shop drawings
  • 3+ year of intense CAD experience
  • Mitek Structure experience
  • Strong knowledge of residential framing best practices
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and drawings
  • Organized, detail oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Residential carpentry experience strongly preferred.
