Job description

Overview

We’re seeking an Editorial (Magazine) Designer to support our client, a leading creative company in the health space, in a contract role lasting around 2 months. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-profile magazine project with a focus on visual storytelling and sophisticated layout design.


Type: Contract, Hybrid in NYC

Schedule: Regular day hours

Duration: 2 months expected

Pay: $65 - $84/hr, paid weekly, benefits eligible


Editorial (Magazine) Designer Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the visual concept for a new magazine publication.
  • Design and implement multi-page editorial layouts ensuring consistency and clarity.
  • Develop typographic systems and visual hierarchies to enhance readability.
  • Apply Scandinavian-inspired design principles to create a clean and elevated editorial experience.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Director and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.


Editorial (Magazine) Designer Qualifications:

  • Proven experience designing long-form magazines, with a portfolio demonstrating work over 50 pages.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Excellent understanding of typography, composition, and information hierarchy.
  • Style aligned with Swiss/Scandinavian design aesthetics, including grid reliance and clean visuals.
  • Experience managing large-scale editorial projects with extensive page counts.
