Job description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Facilities Maintenance III for our client in Portland, OR. This is a direct hire position supporting building utilities and facility infrastructure. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with the following: independent decision-making, strong mechanical and electrical fundamentals, diagnosing root causes and performing lasting repairs while confidently determining when systems are production-ready.

Pay & Schedule
Pay: $38–$41/hour DOE
Training: Day shift during initial training period (length dependent on progress)
Regular Shift: 2:00pm–10:30pm, Monday–Friday
On-Call: Participation in on-call rotation required after training
Position Type: Direct Hire

Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on facility systems including commercial HVAC units, rooftop exhaust fans, boilers, air compressors, nitrogen systems, pumps, and water systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues affecting building utilities and infrastructure
• Support ultrapure water systems and related utility infrastructure through inspections and maintenance activities
• Serve as the primary facilities technician on swing shift after training
• Make independent decisions regarding equipment readiness and production impact
• Manage and oversee third-party contractors performing work on site
• Use CMMS to track, complete, and improve preventative maintenance tasks
• Coordinate with production and facility teams to minimize operational disruptions
• Follow all safety requirements, including PPE and regulated work practices

Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Associate degree in Electrical or Maintenance Technology, technical certification, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of facilities or industrial maintenance experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting fundamentals
• Experience supporting commercial HVAC, boilers, pumps, compressed air, and facility utility systems
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
• Experience overseeing contractors or coordinating outside service providers
• Ability to obtain Hazardous Materials Technician certification and wear required PPE including respirator
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial environments

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in semiconductor, chemical, or high-tech manufacturing environments
• Exposure to control systems and facility automation (troubleshooting level)
• Experience with ultrapure water systems
• Experience working in clean room environments

Work Environment
This role supports building and facility infrastructure within a high-tech manufacturing environment. Work includes maintenance of rooftop equipment, mechanical rooms, and utility systems. After training, the technician will be the primary facilities maintenance support on swing shift, with backup support available as needed. Work may include occasional clean room and chemical exposure. PPE and safety compliance are required at all times.
