Position Summary
The Tool/Gear Regrind Technician is responsible for the regrind of used tools such as drills, gun drills, end mills, reamers, and gears. This role inspects reground tools and gear accuracy to support manufacturing operations.
Position Responsibilitie
sThe incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position
- :Understand gear cutting processes, tool regrind processes, wheel dressing processes, and gear and tool inspection
- .Regrind tools on (2) Walter grinders, and (1) Utsunomiya grinder, manual lathe, manual milling, gear grinding, SV grinding, wheel dressing machine
- .Set up machines, confirm tooling and program specific parts, and any other information to ensure quality
- .Perform machine check and calibration per schedule
- .Inspect the quality of part to the Work Instruction and make necessary adjustments to ensure part quality
- .Interpret blueprints for gear and tooling
- .Assist Tool Preset Room (TPR) to ensure part quality, and to prevent production downtime
- .Work closely with related departments to prevent minimum machines downtime and maintain machines accuracy
- .Precision grinding of tools with tolerance as tight as 10 microns
- .Inspect reground tools by using microscopes Top-Con and Zoller
- .Inspect gear products by using gear measurement machines
- .Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all manufacturing and safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations
- .Create gear and tools to support production
- .Maintain quality standards and achieve target availability goals
- .Ensure all machines are set up to run efficiently
- .Work well in a team environment and independently
- .Available to work overtime if needed
