Information about the Company: Cenveo is a leading North American manufacturer of envelopes with approximately 30 billion envelopes manufactured annually. We are seeking a 2nd shift Roll Tender for our Chicopee, MA manufacturing plant (3pm -- 11pm).
Job Summary
The Roll Tender supports envelope production by loading and changing paper rolls, maintaining steady material flow, and assisting with mechanical adjustments to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. This developmental role leads toward Machine Adjuster Trainee / Machine Adjuster and requires intermediate mechanical aptitude, basic troubleshooting ability, and strict adherence to safety procedures in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Pay/Schedule:
  • Starting at $18-19/hr depending on experience + $1/hr 2nd shift premium (3pm -- 11pm)
  • Schedule: Mon - Fri / Sat required during busy season/based on business needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Loads, stages, and installs paper rolls onto unwind stands, ensuring correct alignment, tension, and splice setup for uninterrupted production.
  • Monitors roll usage, performs roll changes, and prepares new rolls to minimize downtime.
  • Assists Adjusters / Trainees with mechanical adjustments, including web threading, tension settings, and minor equipment corrections.
  • Supports changeovers and size changes, helping configure the machine for new envelope formats or materials.
  • Inspects rolls for defects, damage, or moisture issues and reports material concerns to supervisors.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area and follows all plant safety procedures, including lockout/tagout when required.
  • Completes basic documentation such as roll usage logs, material tracking, and production notes.
  • Other duties and assignments as required.

Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Included functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA.

Job Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant mechanical experience
  • Intermediate-Advanced ability to set up, troubleshoot; repair machines; problem-solve
  • Basic math skills and the ability to accurately read a ruler; basic computer skills.
  • Flexibility required with machine assignment.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Regular standing, walking, carrying, climbing, reaching, bending, stooping.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 55 pounds with assistance.
  • Exposure to production equipment, noise, hazardous materials (inks, solvents, glue, etc.).
  • Must be able to work in hot or cold weather.
  • Ability to handle high-speed delivery output in a standing position for a full shift.
  • Mental alertness to stop equipment when jam occurs.
