Job description

1. Summary

The Quality Inspector examines aircraft parts and manufacturing operations for conformity to established quality requirements. The Quality Inspector inspects raw materials, details, assemblies, and processes for conformance with technical specifications. Inspections are conducted visually and by using instruments such as scales, gauges, templates, calipers, micrometers, and laser scanners. The Quality Inspector prepares reports on findings, documenting specifics of non-conformances working closely with Production and Engineering staff.

2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of aerospace components throughout the manufacturing life cycle; From receiving raw material, in process inspection of detail components at various stages of completion, and final inspection of bonded assemblies.
  • Monitor processes for adherence to specifications derived from customer, industry, and company requirements.
  • Ensure completeness of manufacturing processes prior to initiation of the next process step.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports, forms and/or logs, and inputting data into quality database.
  • Complete and Document AS9100/ISO 9001 First Article Inspection requirements to include completion of required forms and certification packages.
  • Participate/Perform Root Cause Corrective Action events and action plans.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection on tooling.
  • Use calibrated precision measuring equipment to perform dimensional inspection of machined components.
  • Use inspection lights, magnifying aids, to look for cracks, galling, corrosion, or other defects.
  • Compare test results with specifications and report non-compliant results.
  • Provide their internal customers with correct products and services, on time.
  • Keep WOs and associated documentation with each part throughout the manufacturing process and provide documentation to their internal customer.
  • Retain part traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Utilize MRP/ERP system to keep program data current.
  • Participate in training.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Support equipment calibration activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
3. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years working in Quality Control
  • Familiarity with NDI Methods
  • Strong work ethic and appreciation of aircraft part integrity and safety.
  • Strong technical knowledge and aptitude.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, metal forming, and assembly.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 : AS9100D (preferred)
  • Knowledge of NADCAP (preferred)
  • Familiarity with adhesive bonding processes (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (preferred)
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, with high proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Work Authorization: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass the Defense National Agency Check IAW DoDD 5200.2
4. Physical Demands / ADA Compliance

The employee may be required to stand for a full shift while wearing PPE. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Correctable vision to 20/20 with full depth perception. Ability to pass DOT Drug Testing requirements (49 CFR Part 40). Regularly required to push, pull, bend, and apply pressure using hand tools and operate machinery. The Employee may also be required to work in a heated environment and successfully pass the HCOA Respirator Qualification program as an essential job duty due to exposure to particulates and fumes.
