Job description

The Industrial Strategy (IS) Powertrain (PWT) Machining Systems Product/Process Specialist will lead projects in design and cost estimation of Machining systems for Engines as indicated by requirements in the Long Range Plan. This will include Machining/Automation/Facilities and all other equipment for new model launches in North America, Canada, and Mexico. The role of this Manager will be to apply Process Standards developed by the Underbody Process Engineering (UPE) group to develop proposals for new product introductions, including process design, layout, and cost estimations (Capital, Tooling, and Expense).
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The IS Engine Machining Specialist will be responsible for the application of UPE standards and specifications focused on:
• Developing Process Cost Estimates
• Developing Initial Labor/Manpower Estimates
• Developing Concept Layouts and Representations
• Performing Product Feasibility Analyses
• Identifying DTM Opportunities to improve key KPI's (Cost, Quality, and Throughput)
• Preparation of process proposal documents for handoff to UPE team for execution after governance of program
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• 10 years of automotive project experience with emphasis on Machining systems development (either Engine or Transmission)
• Experience leading teams in development of new product/process introduction proposals and cost estimation
• Experience directly managing process engineering development and launch activities
• Experience in execution of projects for new product/processes including RFQ/Sourcing/Commissioning/Launch
• Experience managing the iron triangle (Cost, Scope, and Timing) on Propulsion programs
• Strong computer skills - particularly in Excel, PowerPoint
• Excellent communication skills - both orally and in written
• Ability to communicate with Executive/Senior Management
• Successful candidate must have the ability to work as part of a team
• Must be able to travel 10-20% as required to visit Propulsion Division plants and Suppliers
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical preferred, Electrical and/or Industrial acceptable
• 5 years of industrial project management experience
• Familiarity with 3D Design and Teamcenter Visualization
• Familiarity with requirement equipment and process types including CNC's and other Machining
• Equipment/Automation/Conveyance/Controls/Gaging
• Experience delivering Machining processes for at least one of the 3C areas - Cylinder Block, Cylinder Head, Crankshaft
• Experience working with Bargaining Unit Employees
