What You'll Do
As a Substitute Machining Technology Instructor, you'll provide instructional support and help maintain a safe, engaging, and productive learning environment for students pursuing careers in manufacturing and machining.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting students with curriculum questions, coursework, and hands-on learning activities.
- Presenting organized learning opportunities aligned with approved course outlines and instructional objectives.
- Supporting classroom and laboratory instruction as directed by faculty.
- Maintaining accountability and supervision of students in classrooms, labs, and shop environments.
- Adapting instructional materials, equipment, and demonstrations to support specific learning objectives.
- Promoting professionalism, safety, and industry best practices.
- Ensuring the safe use of instructional facilities, machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Maintaining an organized, productive, and disciplined learning environment.
- Communicating effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Assisting with administrative and clerical tasks as needed.
- Supporting the overall success of the Machining Technology program and student learning experience.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable machining professional who is passionate about workforce development and helping students succeed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in machining, manufacturing, CNC operations, toolmaking, or a related field.
- Knowledge of machining principles, precision measurement, blueprint reading, and manufacturing processes.
- Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively explain technical concepts and support hands-on student learning.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, professional, and student-focused learning environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency, including email and standard office software applications.
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
