The Tool and Die Supervisor manages day-to-day operations of the tool and die shop by coordinating work between the various functional groups. They will lead a team of machinists and fabricators in making extrusion tooling and equipment components for internal stakeholders at Trex. In addition, they will also maintain relationships with numerous vendors in order to efficiently maintain equipment, source materials, and outsource overflow and/or specialty work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Put safety first – Always!
  • Lead and foster our “people first” culture.
  • Lead a group of tool and die makers by communicating clear priorities, setting goals aligned with company’s strategic plan, and facilitating opportunities for growth.
  • Manage the production of all parts and assemblies through the tool and die shop including extrusion tooling and equipment components.
  • Coordinate with management to determine priority of jobs through the shop and forecast completion dates.
  • Ensure finished goods meet all quality requirements.
  • Improve shop effectiveness by driving continuous improvement activities related to throughput, efficiency, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Facilitate the maintenance and troubleshooting of tool and die shop equipment by working with tool and die makers and external vendors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external vendors to source raw materials, tooling, hardware, and technical support.

DIRECT REPORTS

Manage and provide ongoing performance, coaching, and professional development opportunities for a team of 10 - 15 direct reports, including Tool & Die Maker I – III, Tool & Die Administrative Assistant.

EXPERIENCE

We are looking for leaders with a High school diploma or GED, 10+ years of CNC machining experience, and experience leading a CNC Machining team

  • Required Skills & Qualifications:
    • Working knowledge of machining and fabrication processes including milling, turning, EDM, and welding
    • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM packages
    • Ability to manage 10+ direct reports
  • Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
    • Associate’s degree or higher
    • Experience with Fulcrum shop management platform
    • Experience with SolidWorks CAD
    • Experience with Esprit CAM

SALARY

Base Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000 annually.

The salary range provided serves as a general guideline for potential compensation for this position. It reflects the base salary and does not account for other benefits or additional compensation opportunities that may apply. This role is also eligible for further compensation through an annual/sales bonus, in addition to the base salary.
