Job description

  • Sets up, adjusts, or operates basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
  • Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
  • Measures, examines, completed components to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
  • Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition.
  • Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to manufacture components
  • Conduct in-process and first piece inspections prior to production run.
  • Confers with engineering, supervisory, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
  • Disposes of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Evaluates machining procedures and recommends changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.
  • Operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) lathes, mills, and other equipment. Includes but not limited to inserting tools, changing tool tips, and setting zero positions.
  • Complete routine visual and dimensional in-process inspections of CNC work product and machine to ensure proper operation and maintenance, notifying facility manager immediately of any issues or concerns during the inspection process.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow all prescribed safety procedures.
    Assist in other work areas and perform all other related duties, as needed and directed.
