Job description

Kilgore Machine Co., Inc. is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector to join our aerospace CNC machine shop. This role is responsible for ensuring that precision-machined aerospace components meet all engineering, customer, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in ASME Y14.5 GD&T, first article inspections, and general job shop inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections in a job shop environment
  • Inspect precision aerospace components using a variety of precision measuring devices
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Identify nonconformances, defects, and potential process issues; work with production to troubleshoot and resolve them
  • Assist in implementing and improving quality control procedures and documentation
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and reports
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards and aerospace requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Quality Control Inspector in a CNC machining or aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T)
  • Experience with first article inspections, in-process inspections, and general inspections(Job Shop)
  • Proficient with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Good math skills related to machining and inspection
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter and capable of working with minimum supervision
  • Excel knowledge is a plus

Preferred Experience:

  • Aerospace manufacturing background
  • Job shop environment experience
  • Familiarity with quality systems and inspection documentation
  • Knowledge of FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports), NET Inspect, and PPAP.
