Laitram Machine Shop is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist 4 to join our Lathe Team in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

This senior-level position combines CNC machining, setup, programming support, process improvement, and mentorship responsibilities in a modern manufacturing environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Perform advanced setups across a variety of CNC lathes and machining equipment
  • Load stock into workholding devices and monitor machining operations
  • Run production jobs while maintaining quality, efficiency, and throughput goals
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment to verify compliance with print specifications
  • Make adjustments to tooling, offsets, workholding, feeds, and speeds to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements
  • Create and support CNC programs while communicating setup and tooling requirements to the shop floor
  • Troubleshoot machining and process issues while identifying improvement opportunities
  • Develop repeatable manufacturing processes and machining strategies
  • Train, mentor, and support less experienced machinists
  • Collaborate with programmers, quality personnel, engineers, and production leadership to improve manufacturing performance

  • Proficiency using precision inspection equipment
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Advanced shop math skills including geometry and trigonometry
  • Leadership and mentoring experience
  • Strong communication and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
