Location: St Louis, MO
Salary: $100,000-$150,000 (depends on experience)


Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead mechanical engineering and construction projects from planning through completion. The role focuses on delivering mechanical systems on time, on budget, and to specification while coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing contractors and vendors, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This position is ideal for candidates with strong mechanical expertise and proven project management experience across commercial, industrial, water/wastewater, and construction environments.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for mechanical scopes including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems.
  • Manage contractors, subcontractors, fabricators and vendors; oversee procurement, shop drawings review, and QA/QC for mechanical equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, structural, controls) to ensure design integration and constructability.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, change orders, cost tracking and forecasts; ensure projects meet financial targets.
  • Review mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications; provide technical guidance and ensure compliance with codes, standards and client requirements.
  • Oversee site construction activities including inspections, commissioning, startup, and turnover for pump stations, treatment plants, commercial buildings and manufacturing facilities..

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of project management experience overseeing mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal) in commercial, industrial, or water/wastewater projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical design, piping fabrication, pump stations, WTP/WWTP processes, stormwater systems and treatment plant equipment.
  • Experience with construction management, design-build processes, and ground-up projects; familiarity with manufacturing and commercial building systems a plus.
  • Preferred certifications: PMP, PE (Mechanical), or relevant trade qualifications; hands-on background as a plumber, boiler technician, or mechanical tradesperson is advantageous.
  • Experience with commercial and residential plumbing, plumbing service operations, and contractor coordination is beneficial.
