Machine Shop Supervisor, 2nd shift

Job Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the layout and machining operations of metal products in accordance with corporate goals, policies, procedures, and standards to achieve established schedules and standards for quality and time. Supervises machinists, saw operators, taggers, trainees and general laborers to effectively utilize the resources of the Machine Shop.
Compensation: $67,527.53- $84,402.66 and is based on the candidates experience.
This position will work second shift Monday - Thursday, 3:15pm - 1:45am
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Facilitates professional development through the provision of coaching, counseling, and constructive performance feedback.
  2. Coordinates leaves and schedules of staff members.
  3. Responds to corrective action issues.
  4. Directs, supervises and coordinates machining set-ups and operations requiring a broad knowledge of machining to provide economical manufacturing that meets quality, quantity, schedule and cost requirements.
  5. Reviews work orders and blueprints to determine process, materials, machines and sequence of operation.
  6. Organizes and assigns work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, labor hours, and machines to the best advantages to obtain most favorable machining costs, quality and workmanship.
  7. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  8. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  9. Performs product inspection and monitors production quality on an on-going basis.
  10. Implements necessary modifications to operational processes to ensure the optimization of product quality standards.
  11. Follows-up on jobs in progress to assure performance to specifications.
  12. Requisitions material to meet production goals.
  13. Investigates malfunction of machines and equipment to determine need for repair.
  14. Engages in regular consultation with fellow supervisors to ensure the seamless coordination of activities across diverse departments.
  15. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  16. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the machine shop and personnel.
  17. Approves time and labor charges in Paylocity.
  18. Maintains time and production records.
  19. Recruits, selects, orients and trains employees.
  20. Establishes training and orientation plans.
  21. Facilitates employee instruction regarding operational methodologies and adherence to safety protocols..
  22. Reviews personnel training In SkillStation.
  23. Ensures the strict preservation and confidentiality of all processed organizational information.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Job Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Degree or Certificate in Machine Tool Technology or other related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years or more of post degree experience in a manufacturing environment as fully operational set up and run machinist or a related field of which three years include supervisory responsibilities.
PREFERRED: A diversified background in a variety of manufacturing disciplines. Familiarity with APICS inventory and production control procedures. Knowledge of CNC equipment and programming. Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite. Familiarity with Google Suite, Salesforce, and Rootstock.
