Job description

Overview

The Toolroom Attendant will be responsible for Machine Shop toolroom coverage during the evening hours. This individual dispenses and collects tools, equipment, and supplies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Diploma from technical high school or trade school. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Education, training, and/or work experience which qualifies person to perform the duties and provides a working knowledge of terminology, tools, and equipment appropriate to trade. Required
  • Experience in inventory procedures. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Ability to read and to perform basic arithmetic. Required
  • Awareness of security issues and measures for the toolroom and laboratories. Required
  • Basic understanding of the repair of mechanical equipment. Required
  • High general mechanical aptitude. Required
Responsibilities
  • Store, dispense, receive, and check tools, equipment, and instructional supplies used by faculty and students. Verify that written requisitions from students and staff correctly match item being checked in or out.
  • Maintain clean and orderly arrangement of toolroom and contents. Rearrange toolroom to make Room for new supplies as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of expendable supplies and notify full time Tool Room attendant as supplies are depleted to enable timely reordering.
  • Receive and Check supplies delivered by College Shipping/Receiving and supplies.
  • Promptly Report loss, theft, or breakage of tools, equipment, and supplies to Assistant Dean or appropriate faculty member.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs (e.g., parts replacement) on tools/equipment/machines.
  • May Answer telephone and Relay messages to instructional areas, as needed.
Physical Standards and Special Job Features
  • May require some heavy lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
  • Requires placing and removing heavy objects from high shelves and storage places.
