We're looking for a general laborer who will operate equipment to produce a variety of automotive parts as well as support various operations in the Machine Shop. Here are the specifics:
  • Operate machine shop machinery and equipment including mills, lathes, lasers, grinders, tubular benders, miters, tappers, drill presses or other equipment.
  • Properly pack parts to prevent damage in shipping/transit.
  • Disassemble and clean parts.
  • Drive vehicles to deliver goods to the proper locations and vendors.
  • Ability to operate forklifts to load and unload trucks and move goods around proficiently.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Cut, tap, grind, thread, sand, bend steel, aluminum, and brass material using cold saws, tube bender, sanders, drill press, tappers and other machine shop equipment and assemble component parts.
  • Set-up, measure, level, inspect, and run tools and machines in the performance of various job orders.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by job order; pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect machine malfunction and inspects parts for defects.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, and any imperfections from work piece.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as cleaning, oiling machines, dies, or jigs.
  • Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through on commitments.

Schedule
First Shift: Monday-Thursday | 6:00AM-4:30PM
What you'll need to succeed in this position:
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
  • Must be able to read technical manuals, blueprints and various documents.
  • Able to operate forklift equipment.
  • Strong technical skills including electrical, mechanical and construction a plus.
  • Must be able to follow detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Is familiar with machine shop equipment.
  • Able to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication.
  • High School diploma or GED required and 6 months of Machine Shop experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Experience:
    • Technical Education and 6 months of Machine Shop experience.

Work Environment
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry <50 lbs. and rarely push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Occasional walking and standing.
  • Rare bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting.
  • Occasional work above shoulder level and reach.
  • Frequent pinching, grasping, fine manipulation with fingers and must be able to use power tools.
  • Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Occasional exposure to dust, dirt, steam, fumes-vapor and chemicals.
  • Heated and air-conditioned indoor work as well as rare outdoor activities in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
