Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Haverhill is a world-class manufacturer of precision machined aerospace components. We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, reliability, and performance across all production equipment within the machine shop. This position leads all maintenance activities with a strong focus on preventative and predictive maintenance, rapid response to equipment issues, and continuous improvement of machine reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
The Maintenance Manager will lead the maintenance team, manage maintenance planning and execution, coordinate outside service providers when required, and ensure equipment is available to support production requirements. This role is critical to maintaining production flow and reducing downtime in a high-mix, precision machining environment.
The Salary Range for this Position is $108,000 - $126,000
Essential Responsibilities
  • Equipment Reliability & Maintenance Planning
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all production equipment
  • Create and maintain maintenance schedules for all CNC machines, support equipment, and other shop machinery
  • Drive improvements in equipment uptime, reliability, and OEE
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts
  • Establish and maintain equipment maintenance standards, procedures, and documentation
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and history for all equipment

Maintenance Execution
  • Lead and prioritize daily maintenance activities to support production requirements
  • Assign maintenance personnel to planned and unplanned maintenance work
  • Ensure rapid response to machine downtime and equipment failures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-related issues
  • Determine when outside contractors or OEM support are required and coordinate their activities
  • Support equipment installations, commissioning, upgrades, rebuilds, and relocation project

Team Leadership
  • Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance personnel
  • Set clear priorities and expectations for the maintenance team
  • Ensure the team is properly trained on equipment, troubleshooting, and safe work practices
  • Build a culture of urgency, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department

Spare Parts Management
  • Manage spare parts inventory and MRO materials to ensure critical components are available when needed
  • Identify critical spare parts and establish minimum inventory levels
  • Evaluate repair versus replacement decisions and recommend cost-effective solutions

Continuous Improvement
  • Transition the department from reactive maintenance to a proactive, predictive maintenance approach
  • Develop and track key maintenance metrics including uptime, downtime, response time, MTBF, MTTR, and OEE
  • Lead projects to improve machine reliability, reduce downtime, and increase throughput
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to support manufacturing goals

Position Requirements
  • 5-10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong experience supporting CNC machine tools and precision machining equipment required
  • Experience in a machine shop, aerospace, or other precision manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance systems required
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to prioritize and make decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machine tools and related manufacturing equipment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC/control systems
  • Experience troubleshooting machine tool issues and coordinating OEM support
  • Experience with CMMS systems preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Must be detail oriented and understand the importance of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to walk through and stand on 130k square foot facility frequently
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to learn new skills through company training opportunities and outside training programs.
