We are looking to hire an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor at our Decatur, AL location.
Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen and have a valid driver's license.
Classification and base pay rate will be dependent upon skillset and prior experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prioritize and assign work within the department, ensuring projects are completed timely, cost effectively and within quality standards.
  • Quote machining and fabrication jobs for external customers.
  • Work with local department managers to schedule and prioritize machining and fabrication activities in support of the caster repair department.
  • Maintain and provide a formal interface internally and externally.
  • Ensure EH&S and Quality objectives are reached and maintained in the department.
  • Manage a team of hourly machinists and fabricators, including training, coaching, development activities, performance reviews, merit planning, corrective actions, hiring and termination decisions.
  • Support and enable effective communications among the team.
  • Enforce Company procedures and policies.
  • Ensure completion of operational documentation for assigned group, such as travelers, map sheets, job router, work requests to other departments, etc.
  • Ensure completion of safety documentation for assigned group, such as first reports of injury, environmental mishaps, JSA's, etc.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 1 year machining experience, preferred 2 to 5 years of related experience

Physical Requirements
  • Work performed at ground level and at heights.
  • Frequent: walking, standing, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasional: climbing, kneeling, crouching, lifting and carrying up to 30-50 lbs.

  • Indicators, gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
