Job description

Shop Manager – Lead Fabrication and Quality Control for High-End Metal Works

Job Overview

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, Weekends, and Overtime

  • Project Scope: Residential, Commercial, Industrial, and Federal Misc. Metals

  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Certified Welder, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Mig Welder Stainless Steel

The Opportunity You will serve as the technical backbone of our fabrication operations, ensuring every weld meets TXDOT and industry standards. This dual-impact role grants you the authority to manage a high-volume shop environment while staying hands-on with elite stainless steel and misc. metal projects. You will be the primary gatekeeper for quality, safety, and inventory efficiency as we scale our production capacity.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead the fabrication shop and warehouse operations by tracking incoming materials and maintaining a highly organized inventory system.

  • Conduct rigorous quality assurance inspections as a CWI and ASNT Level II Examiner to ensure compliance with specialized welding codes.

  • Execute expert-level MIG, TIG, and FCAW welding on stainless steel, pipe, and sheet metal for custom railing and awnings.

  • Translate complex architectural plans and schematics into high-precision finished components.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of shop tickets, documenting total production hours and signing off on completed fabrications.

  • Supervise the receiving and dispatching of materials, verifying deliveries against POs to maintain 100% project accuracy.

  • Maintain facility safety and equipment longevity through a strict weekly maintenance schedule for forklifts, ironworkers, and saws.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding and fitting within a construction or manufacturing environment.

  • Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential with experience in TXDOT misc. welding standards.

  • Advanced proficiency in stainless steel fabrication and various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, FCAW).

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain heavy shop machinery and power tools.

  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Demonstrated experience in shop leadership or warehouse management.

  • Familiarity with forklift operation and small equipment handling.

  • Experience in field installations for fencing, railing, and misc. metals.
